6. Website Information
We aim to provide useful and accurate information, but the website may contain:
- Preliminary plans
- Proposed programs
- Estimated targets
- Expected timelines
- Illustrative figures
- Third-party research
- Draft partnership models
- Information that changes over time
Website content is provided for general informational purposes and should not be treated as a guarantee that a program, service, project, shipment, flight initiative, partnership or investment opportunity will proceed.
We may correct, revise, remove or update content at any time without prior notice.
Canadian advertising rules prohibit representations that are materially false or misleading, based on both their literal meaning and their overall general impression. Website administrators should therefore verify all statistics, impact claims, environmental claims, nutrition claims and project-status statements before publication.
7. No Guarantee of Program Availability
Programs described on the website may depend on:
- Funding
- Restaurant participation
- Food availability
- Equipment
- Transportation
- Airline cooperation
- Regulatory approvals
- Food-safety requirements
- Community participation
- Local distribution capacity
- Weather and northern transportation conditions
- Technical and operational feasibility
We do not guarantee that any proposed meal, transportation, flight, donation or community program will become available in a particular location or by a particular date.
8. Public Surveys
Participation in a public survey is voluntary.
Survey responses may be used to:
- Assess public interest
- Estimate demand
- Understand meal preferences
- Evaluate proposed prices
- Plan logistics
- Improve programs
- Prepare aggregated reports
Survey questions about meal prices are intended to measure interest and do not constitute a binding offer, confirmed price, purchase agreement or guarantee that meals will be sold.
Submitting a survey does not require you to purchase anything.
We may exclude responses that appear duplicate, automated, incomplete, abusive or unreliable.
9. Volunteer Applications
Submitting a volunteer application does not guarantee acceptance or placement.
Volunteer opportunities may depend on:
- Available positions
- Skills and experience
- Location
- Availability
- References
- Training requirements
- Food-safety requirements
- Background or vulnerable-sector screening
- Transportation needs
- Community approval
- Program availability
Volunteers may be required to sign additional documents, including:
- A volunteer agreement
- Code of conduct
- Confidentiality agreement
- Safety acknowledgement
- Media consent form
- Conflict-of-interest declaration
- Waiver or release, where legally appropriate
Volunteers are not employees solely because they submit an application or participate in an approved volunteer activity. Unless otherwise stated in writing, volunteer roles are unpaid.
We may decline, suspend or end a volunteer placement when reasonably necessary for safety, conduct, operational or community reasons.
10. Partnership Applications
Submitting a partnership application does not:
- Guarantee selection
- Create a partnership
- Create agency or joint-venture status
- Authorize use of our name or logo
- Commit us to purchase goods or services
- Commit us to accept a donation
- Create exclusivity
- Create an investment agreement
- Create a binding contract
A partnership becomes binding only when authorized representatives enter into a separate written agreement.
We may evaluate applications based on factors such as:
- Community benefit
- Food-safety compliance
- Capacity
- Reliability
- Cost
- Quality
- Logistics
- Location
- Reputation
- Insurance
- Regulatory compliance
- Financial and operational sustainability
We may accept or reject any partnership application at our discretion, subject to applicable law.
11. Restaurant Partner Portal
Certain restaurant or partner features may be available only through a private, password-protected portal.
Users of the portal must:
- Keep login information confidential.
- Use only their authorized account.
- Provide accurate and current information.
- Notify us promptly of unauthorized access.
- Treat other participants’ confidential information responsibly.
- Follow all portal rules and submission deadlines.
Where a selection process allows participants to view competing offers, that visibility must be clearly disclosed before participation.
We may suspend access where account security, fairness, confidentiality or system integrity is at risk.
12. Restaurant Offers and Selection Processes
Restaurant offers may include:
- Estimated surplus-food quantities
- Daily or weekly volumes
- Prices per day or by weight
- Packing costs
- Freezing capacity
- Collection schedules
- Operational commitments
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise:
- An online submission is an expression of interest.
- We are not required to accept the lowest offer.
- We may consider logistics, capacity, quality and food safety alongside price.
- We may request clarification or supporting documents.
- We may cancel, extend or revise a selection process.
- We may reject incomplete, misleading or commercially impractical offers.
The term “silent auction” should only be used if the actual portal and selection process operates consistently with the rules published to participants.
13. Food Safety
Food partners are responsible for complying with all applicable:
- Food-safety laws
- Public-health requirements
- Licensing requirements
- Inspection requirements
- Storage standards
- Temperature controls

Partners must not provide food that is unsafe, contaminated, improperly stored, expired or unsuitable for human consumption.
Additional written procedures may be required for:
- Cooling
- Packing
- Freezing
- Labelling
- Pickup
- Transportation
- Freeze-drying
- Storage
- Rehydration instructions
- Allergen information
- Recall procedures
Information on the website is not a substitute for professional food-safety, nutritional, medical or regulatory advice.
14. Allergies and Dietary Requirements
Food products may contain or come into contact with allergens.
Potential allergens may include:
- Peanuts
- Tree nuts
- Milk
- Eggs
- Wheat
- Gluten
- Soy
- Sesame
- Fish
- Shellfish
- Mustard
- Sulphites
Users must review available ingredient and allergen information before consuming any food.
Individuals with severe allergies, medical conditions or special dietary needs should seek appropriate professional advice and should not rely solely on general website descriptions.
No food should be described as allergy-free unless that claim can be reliably supported.
15. Meal Descriptions and Images
Food photographs may be illustrative. Actual meals may differ in:
- Appearance
- Ingredients
- Portion size
- Packaging
- Availability
- Restaurant source
- Nutrition
- Preparation method
Descriptions such as “fresh,” “healthy,” “nutritious,” “sustainable” or similar claims should be used only where accurate and supportable.
We do not guarantee that every meal shown on the website will be available for purchase or donation.
16. Orders, Prices and Payments
This section applies only if the website later allows purchases, donations or paid bookings.
All prices must be displayed in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.
Before an order is finalized, the website should clearly disclose:
- Product price
- Taxes
- Shipping or delivery charges
- Service fees
- Payment terms
- Estimated delivery information
- Cancellation terms
- Refund terms
Prices may change without notice, but changes will not apply retroactively to completed purchases unless required to correct an obvious error and permitted by law.
An order is not accepted until confirmation is issued by us or the relevant payment provider.
We may cancel an order where:
- A product is unavailable
- A price is clearly incorrect
- Payment cannot be processed
- Fraud is suspected
- Delivery is unavailable
- Legal or safety requirements cannot be met
Electronic records and transactions can have legal validity under Alberta’s Electronic Transactions Act, subject to its requirements and exceptions.
17. Donations
Unless Friends of Nunavummiut becomes an appropriately registered organization authorized to issue official charitable tax receipts, users should not assume that a donation is tax-deductible.
The website must clearly state:
- The legal name of the recipient
- Whether a tax receipt will be issued
- How funds will be used
- Whether donations are refundable
- The payment processor used
A donation does not give the donor ownership, operational control or a guaranteed role in the organization.
Restricted donations may be accepted only where confirmed in writing.
18. Investments and Financial Information
Any information directed to potential investors or business partners is general and preliminary unless accompanied by formal legal documents.
Nothing on the website constitutes:
- Investment advice
- Financial advice
- Securities advice
- Tax advice
- A prospectus
- A guaranteed return
- A binding investment offer
Potential investors must conduct their own due diligence and obtain independent legal, financial and tax advice.
No investment should be accepted through a general website form unless appropriate legal, regulatory, identity-verification and contractual procedures are established.
19. Flights Initiative
Information relating to affordable or donated flights is an advocacy or proposed-program concept unless clearly confirmed otherwise.
The website does not guarantee:
- Free flights
- Discounted fares
- Available seats
- Particular routes
- Travel dates
- Airline participation
- Government participation
- Eligibility
- Accommodation
- Travel insurance
- Medical support
Any future travel arrangement will be subject to separate eligibility rules, airline conditions, identification requirements, safety requirements and written program terms.
Users should not make travel plans based solely on preliminary website statements.
20. Community Distribution
Food or other assistance may be distributed according to:
- Demonstrated need
- Community priorities
- Available supply
- Local capacity
- Program eligibility
- Safety considerations
- Guidance from approved community representatives
We do not guarantee assistance to every applicant or community.
Distribution decisions should be made respectfully, consistently and without unlawful discrimination.
Community representatives may be required to follow confidentiality, record-keeping, safety and conflict-of-interest requirements.
21. Communications and Newsletter Consent
Users may choose to receive:
- Newsletters
- Program updates
- Volunteer opportunities
- Partnership information
- Event notices
- Fundraising messages
Canada’s anti-spam legislation generally requires organizations to obtain appropriate consent before sending commercial electronic messages.
Marketing messages should identify the sender, provide contact information and include a functional unsubscribe method.
You may unsubscribe at any time. Administrative communications related to an active application, transaction or partnership may still be sent where permitted.
22. Privacy
Use of the website is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect and retain personal information.
Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law may apply when an organization collects, uses or discloses personal information in the course of commercial activities. Its fair-information principles address accountability, consent, limited collection, safeguards, openness and access.

- Required permissions have been obtained.
Where you submit content for publication, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, format and display it for the approved purpose.
We will not publicly use confidential partnership submissions merely because they were uploaded through a form.
24. Photographs, Videos and Testimonials
We will seek appropriate consent before publishing identifiable photographs, videos, personal stories or testimonials.
Additional care and authorization are required for content involving:
- Children
- Vulnerable individuals
- Health information
- Community assistance

Submitting a photograph does not automatically authorize unrestricted promotional use unless clear consent is provided.
A person may request that future use stop, although we may not be able to withdraw materials already lawfully printed, distributed or published by third parties.
25. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website materials owned by Friends of Nunavummiut may include:
